Campaigning For Proper Defence

Tony Blair seems to want to run down our defence forces to a level where we are incapable of defending our own land; conversely he also wants to send British troops rushing around the world policing other people's conflicts. He is also determined to reduce Britain's forces to just one part of a new European army run and controlled by Brussels.

Recently it has been announced that one of just three aircraft carriers will be mothballed. The Royal Navy is to lose its Sea Harrier jump jets. The equipment purchased by the Ministry of Defence is a continuin scandal - Apache helicopters that shoot themselves down, the Challenger 2 tanks that are incapable of fighting in desert conditions and Blair won't pay for the required refits.

The Campaign For National Democracy would:-

1. Develop a coherent defence strategy.

2. Retain the regimental system.

3. Have an independent British nuclear deterrent.

4. Restore the capability of our armed forces.

5. Restore control of all British forces to the British Government.

6. Ensure that we care for all serving and former servicemen. Recognise the existence of Gulf War Syndrome and initiate an immediate "Care Programme".

7. Ensure that all servicemen and their dependants receive an appropriate pension.
