The level of crime in Britain today is at its highest level ever, violent crime in particular has spiraled completely out of control. In London, our capital city, there are now 191 muggings each day, a 40% rise on last year. Other serious crime have also shown increases: murders up 10% to one every other day; sex offences up 13% to 25 every single day.
Across the rest of the country the situation is no better with violent crime showing dramatic increases even in rural areas: in North Wales it jumped 36% since last year; Cumbria up 30%; Staffordshire up 15%; Northumbria up 37%.
And these are official statistics and do not include those incidents where individuals do not want to press charges either because they know the perpetrators involved or simply because they have lost all confidence in the police actually catching the perpetrators. This is hardly surprising when clear up rates fro crime have sunk to an all time low with only 18% of muggers being caught, only 6% of car thefts solved and just 12% of burglars being caught.
While individual police officers still largely do their best to carry out their duty of protecting the public, they are bound hand and foot by politically correct regulations, by red tape and by incompetent senior officers who seem to think that providing a back-up social service with race advisers, gay rights advisers, etc. is more important than catching criminals. In one Essex borough a police officer was appointed as a homosexual liaison officer and announced that his job was not to catch criminals.
1. Introduce a zero tolerance policy for all crimes.
2. Ensure that new laws do not 'criminalise' large sections of the population.
3. Make sure that police forces stop 'turning a blind eye' to some crimes - their job is to enforce the law, not to decide which laws to enforce.
4. The police should pursue and catch criminals without having to worry as to whether they are catching more black or white criminals - justice should be colour blind.
5. For some specific crimes such as premeditated murder and child murder the death penalty should be restored.
6. Paedophiles convicted of serious offences should never be allowed back into the community.
